The first step is to meet up and discuss your requirements, aims and wishes for your website.
This is a process of 'discovery' - I will ask lots of questions to get a better understanding including: What image do you portray or wish to? What are your products or services and your main selling points? I would also need to see examples of past or current advertising material.
Importantly this 'discovery' works two ways as you can find out from me what I can bring to this project. |

2. Quotation and Specification |
|
My aim is to draw up a specification document - a clear picture of the elements that go to make up your site - page by page ideally. This will be the basis for my specification and quotation document that I will then create.
If you are happy with the quote and give the green light then initially 35% is paid prior to the following process commencing. |
|
'Content' means the words that you would like to see on your website and they need to come from you. You are the expert when it comes to your business after all.
Writing content is not a huge job as it needs to be 'concise' but it is most important to get the words correct in terms of attracting clients and of course income.
Also 'keywords' need to be considered and included in content wherever possible. As far as keywords go (I can help you to develop a list of these) - think in terms of what potential customers will search for, what words they will use within their searches.
The process of writing content for a website is usually difficult to begin with but stick with it as it nearly always helps define your business and brings focus to your aims. |
|
High quality images are a must for your website, they are powerful devices in terms of helping to hold visitors' attention and delivering your message.
Images that appear on your website need to be high quality - the better their composition and relevance the more effective they will be. You may have the best product or content but one bad image will turn a visitor away in milliseconds.
If you wish to gather new images I can either source them for you or take digital photographs myself (here are some shots I have taken for a previous website). In these instances the cost of stock images or my photography time will be quoted for prior to commencing any paid work. |
|
I usually create 2 (possibly 3 depending on suitability) mock-up images of possible homepage concepts and layout. You will need to choose one of these designs.
This is the beginning of the design development process and your choice of homepage at this stage then governs the look of the whole site.

|
|
While developing your site I will provide a private directory area where you can view the work in progress. This area will also be used for final viewing to sign off the website as approved. |
|
7. Development and Coding |
- All website development programming/coding to run any special features/visitor interactivity on your website will be completed and tested.
- Based upon the final web design selected, I will create as many static or dynamic pages as needed to complete the site incorporating content and images supplied.
- Navigation links or drop down menus will be completed.
- Browser compatibility check and testing.
|
- I move the finished website to its 'Live' location
- Carry out final testing in live environment
- I provide a zipped archive of all files and databases.
- I provide all access details (administrative usernames and passwords) for the site and statistical information.
- The balance payment is then to be made according to the most recent agreed quotation.
